The first art fair that I exhibited at was Roy's Art Fair in London. It was terrifying and exciting in equal measure. Prior to the event, I thought it might be a good idea to make a textile piece that paid homage to the 'big smoke', and this was it. I am not a Londoner but, for me, it is a place where so much goes on below the surface. It is full of grandeur and grit, there are stunning vistas and rubbish beneath your feet. So much wealth and so much poverty. It is full of contradictions. This piece conveys the surface beauty but hints at the unknown beneath.
