I arrived in Dorset after 2 years living in Kenya and was bereft. I loved my time in Kenya with a passion and was not ready to leave. For six months I was miserable in the UK, then I kicked myself up the bum and decided to recognise the beauty around me, as well as all I had to be grateful for. This piece represents the happiness I found, not just in Dorset but in being an artist. A life long dream was becoming a reality.
I was selected to compete on Sky Arts 'Landscape Artist of the year 2018' on the strength of this textile art piece, and it was featured on the programme.
