This textile elephant is a reminder of what is possible if you have the desire to reach.
She is a metaphor for my journey to becoming a professional artist after a long career as a nurse. It seemed an impossible dream and was not without risk. Sharing my art with the world made me vulnerable, but the rewards were worth the risk.
Reach is inspired by a photograph taken in Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe, by Andrew Danckwerts.
