Young buck

Roe deer have been daily visitors to my garden, on their way into the forest, for the last few years. I love watching them unnoticed as they meander around, looking for the best new plant shoots to eat.

As the night draws in, this young buck is looking for a place to rest in the woods.

I have aimed to capture his wary nature, the moment when a twig snaps under your boot and you are seen. Who will move first?

A textile collage using hundred of small patterned pieces of cotton, chosen for their colour and design, placed to covey form and texture. The addition of embroidery with many different coloured threads builds on this.
